KRYS GLOBAL TO ADDRESS GAINING ACCESS TO DATA IN A HYBRID POST-COVID ENVIRONMENT

KRyS Global’s Director of Forensic Technology and E-Discovery Services, Errol Sinclair, has been selected to serve as a panelist along with distinguished peers from the Cayman Islands and the US at the Turnaround Management Association’s Annual Conference on 28 October 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee. The Panel will address the timely topic, “Gaining Access to Company/Debtor Data in a Hybrid Post-COVID Environment.”

Most employees are working remotely nowadays, and many will continue to work remotely to at least some degree post-COVID. As a result, their access to alternate means of communication for business purposes (e.g. Whatsapp, personal/alternative emails, Teams/Zoom, etc.) has increased significantly. Companies were forced to pivot quickly to remote working environments and often times did not have adequate data protection protocols in place to address the new environment. Lax procedures have resulted in data (both electronic and physical) being housed in multiple locations/on multiple media – often at home and/or on personal devices.

This of course increases the potential for fraud, which Errol and the panel will address along with how to identify and collect these dispersed data through the use of forensic technology and discovery/Rule 2004. This is a highly relevant topic for onshore, offshore and cross-border cases and communities, and will become increasingly important as fraud, and subsequently, litigation/investigations, increase globally.
