KRyS Rahming & Associates (Bahamas) Ltd. to host the Insolvency and Dispute Consulting Seminar 2010

The Nassau Guardian–A sharp rise in financial issues will lead topics at an international conference in The Bahamas next week, set to gather hundreds of accounting and other professionals for discussions on trends in the field.

The newly launched Krys Rahming and Associates (Bahamas) Limited will host the Insolvency and Dispute Consulting Seminar 2010 at the Hilton hotel on July 2. It’s a part of the firm’s goal to shed light on opportunities in the specialized areas of accounting.

“We can do much more here, which will build confidence in the sector and jurisdiction,” Managing Director Ed Rahming told Guardian Business. “There is a huge market for litigation and support services and forensic accounting.

“And we want people to know what we have here…so we want to show the opportunities through education and we’ll be putting on seminars to get the message out.”

After five months in town, the firm has already had its fair share of cases, said the executive, adding that a recession and high unemployment has led to a rise in fraudulent and insolvency cases. Rahming asserts much of his firm’s success has come because of its specialization in the forensic accounting area. It’s one of few firms to do so in the country, although he is confident that the new firm has a uniqueness to it that differentiates it from even the others that specialize in the same thing.

“The main thing that distinguishes us in particular is that we are a Caribbean firm and we don’t do analysis, auditing or anything that a typical accounting firm would do,” he added. “Which means that we’re independent [and] our clients can say that the firm only does this kind of work and there is no conflict of interest.

“And we’re the largest specialized boutique in the Caribbean we can help clients that have multiple claims, insolvency and asset recovery issues throughout the Caribbean.”

Rahming’s experiences includes many years working in the financial advisory services practice of a big four accounting firm in its New York, Cayman and London offices.
